You're walking along the beach one cool and crisp morning when you notice something sticking out of the sand. As you get closer, you realize it's a bottle with a message in it. You crack the bottle open and read it. What does it say?

Pick a quote you like and make up the story behind it (even if you know the context-where did it come before that?). Give it a personal moment in its creator's life, etc.

We were talking other day about how weird it is to give someone your heart, a bodily organ.

So write about the symbolism behind your organs, who you'd give them to, when, where, even why.

Write something uplifting. It can be poetry or a short piece of prose. It can be a ridiculously long piece of prose if you're into that.

Hey everyone. Please post your results for prompt #3 sometime soon. Here are some prompts for #4:

Write one villanelle OR five haikus on a topic of your choice.

...

P.S. I have noticed participation in the group has been minimal. I fear no one is seeing the entries when they are posted, so I suggest everyone watch the community and become a member. I started by making the posts so only members can see them, but I think I'll leave them public for a few weeks and then change their security when they are dated. Remember that you submit your material on the entry for their respective prompts. Let's have more activity!

Observe a person you don't know well. A forgotten relative in old family photos, a stranger on the street, just someone mysterious and unfamiliar. Adlib for the person's thoughts for the moment you see them. Then write about your own thoughts on something and have your stranger respond or think about them also. Basically, create your own character.

OR

Write a love letter in any kind of tone (silly, fantastical, real). Leave it in a library or bookstore.

This weekend we'll have responses to Prompt #2!
